About Our Logo
Our new logo features the Soaring Bird, singing our new song, symbolizing
spirit, its wings spread wide to enfold all ages, all colors, all
manner of people . . .
and the Flowing Water, symbolizing the blessings of water in baptism
whereby all in God's world can become members of one family through
Christ and the Spirit . . .
Here's how the New Songer who worked with the graphic designer to
create the logo describes its creation:
"The concepts of celebration, music, song, movement of spirit, openness,
and outstretched hands were combined in the bird. When I
look at it, I see The Holy Spirit and each of our spirits (combined
in one
bird!) in the midst of happy flight and song, with hands/wings
stretched open to embrace all. The blue shading and wave below carry
the motion
(emotion) through the words 'New Song Episcopal Church,'
tying it all together.
"The blue and the wave also symbolize water, which moves through
the church via each individual's baptismal covenant. When I see
the blue and the wave, I think of our font in the very center of our
worship together; I see the Greve family gently anointing each
other;
I see our children dipping their hands in the font; I see the
unique beauty in the way each individual pours water to begin our time
together
each Sunday . . . ."
